Mentees are second year students in the the Collin County Dental Hygiene Program. The main emphasis of this program is to provide students with mentors who are a source of encouragement and who help guide the students into an active and rewarding career.

The year's Mentor Program kicks off with the GCCDHS Meet and Mingle event in September or October at CCCC in McKinney. This gives mentors and students a chance to meet early in the school year.

Mentors are encouraged to speak personally with their student at least 3 times during the year. Mentors receive a list of dates including exams, boards, graduation, the student's birthday and other events. It is suggested that mentors send encouragement cards for these events, holidays, etc. 

Mentors are encouraged to attend the GCCDHS Student Night Dinner in Februrary with their student.  It is one of the highlights of the year and a time to celebrate the students and the Mentor Program.

• You must be a member of ADHA in order to participate in the mentor program.
• Prospective mentors are asked to fill out a professional/personal questionaire to assist in matching the mentor with a student.
• A contribution of $25 to the program is requested. This is used to provide the student with a gift book, dinner at the Student Night Dinner in February and lunch at the National Boards in the spring. Mentors are welcome to provide other treats on their own at any time.
